  • Material Fee: $10
  • Support the farm and become a member today: Membership info

In this workshop attendees will construct a handcrafted 6”x9” book, perfect for sketching, journaling, scrapbooking or gifting. Part of the fun and appeal of a “junk Journal” is its imperfect qualities! We will honor Earth Day by using the reuse, repurpose, recycle principles, and will use a variety of “mix n’ match” paper elements. Artist Melanie of Horizon Line Art Studio will show you how to construct your book from cover to cover,  including how to bind the pages (“signatures”) using hand-sewing techniques, how to add interactive elements such as pockets, pull-out pages, tags, and zines (mini books).

Think globally, act locally… start gathering recycled papers!! The day of the class, everyone is encouraged to bring a stack of recycled paper elements for the sharing table; redacted junk mail (postcards/sales fliers/letters), catalogs, magazines, maps, wrapping paper, tissue paper, unwanted artwork (drawings, paintings, collages), calendars, greeting cards, decorative paper bags, etc.

You will have the option to design a book using a neutral or floral theme, or you can choose a personalized theme*. All materials (except personalized embellishments) will be provided and are included in the material cost of the workshop.
