SOULE HOMESTEAD EDUCATION CENTER PHOTOGRAPHY POLICY
Soule Homestead Education Center is a peaceful and scenic landscape with a historic farm located in Middleborough Massachusetts, and is the perfect backdrop for all kinds of photography.
Any paid photography that happens on the farm is considered by Soule to be commercial photography and requires a photography membership. In order to hold photoshoots at Soule, we ask that all professional photographers purchase an Annual Photography Membership at an annual fee of $150. Annual Photography Memberships at Soule can be purchased through the Soule Member form. It is at the discretion of Soule Homestead Education Center to limit the number of photographers who are allowed the use of the facilities on any given day. Don’t want to commit to an annual pass? We have day passes available for $60 at the same link.
Photography Location: Sheep Pasture, which is the “goat side” of the farm.
The primary location for professional photography at Soule is the sheep pasture area. Soule Homestead is a non-profit education center that is open to the public from dusk to dawn and cannot be closed for private photography sessions. If there are other areas of the farm that you would like to use for your session, please reach out to the Soule Director director@soulehomestead.org to discuss your ideas first.
Scheduling your photo sessions:
In planning your session at the homestead you will need to contact the Soule Director at least one week before your shoot(s) is/are scheduled to happen in order to make sure there are no conflicts. Please provide the director with the following information:
*time
*date
*number of expected guests or sessions to be done
We have many events at Soule that are planned and listed on our public calendars, but there are also private events and rentals and we want to make sure all visitors to the Homestead are going to have an enjoyable experience.
Photography guidelines:
- Our main objectives at Soule are to maintain that all visitors are safe while enjoying our farm. As a professional photographer using our facilities we expect you and your clients to adhere to the following guidelines.
- Photographers must purchase and hold in good standing an Annual Photographer Membership at Soule for the time frame in which they are expecting to use the farm.
Photographers must contact and schedule their use of the Homestead with at least one week notice. We will reply with a confirmation email of your ability to photograph at the Homestead on your scheduled date. Please be sure to bring a copy of this confirmation with you.
- Soule Homestead reserves the right to refuse photography sessions if we feel they do not meet with the spirit of our mission.
- Photographers must refrain from blocking any areas of the Homestead outright (trail access, paddock entrances, roads, parking lots, etc.)
- We do not allow dogs at the farm so they unfortunately are not allowed at photoshoots – other family pets are also not allowed. Felicity loves to have his photo taken though if you want to stand near her.
- Visitors and photographers must stay out of all animal enclosures. No exceptions.
- No large props are allowed to be used in photography. If you have any questions contact the Soule Director.
- No balloons or glass can be used as props in photoshoots/photo sessions.
Email the Soule director of any rescheduling needs as soon as possible. Please keep in mind that we might not always be able to accommodate your preferred reschedule date, but we will do our best to work with you. We will email you as soon as possible if there are any unforeseen events that need to result in our canceling your scheduled time.
The use of drones is not permitted at Soule Homestead. We do not want to disturb our animals or our guests.
Please note that a photography membership does not allow for discounts on programming or events at the farm.
Photography passes are non-refundable.
Your membership to SHEC helps us to support this wonderful nonprofit 501(c)(3) farm and the programming that we run here. We hope to see you soon at Soule!
